Alice in Wonderland Toys, 9 Sewing Patterns

Alice in Wonderland 'Diagram' sewing patterns ebooklet

This is a vintage Vogue needlework book with sewing patterns patterns for soft toys from the Alice in Wonderland books. Please see the pictures for details of the characters - they include- the White Rabbit, Walrus, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Frog Footman, Humpty Dumpty, the Hatter, White Queen, White Knight and Flamingo. Please note that Alice is not included or featured in this set of patterns. These would be great to make to sell, especially the rabbit and could be quite spectacular made out of wonderful fabrics.

The original booklet was very old and dates from the late 1940s/early 1950s and is called Toys from Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and was part of the Vogue-Knit Series No. 68. There are 24 pages (including the cover) and we have kept in the vintage adverts as there are some lovely ones there. - it has black and white photography and clear diagrams of the charts with the shapes required for the toys.

We have kept the pages exactly as they were published, and in the same condition we found them- this means that there may be a little vintage patina on some pages, but we think that adds to the vintage loveliness.

Please note: these are SEWING (NOT knitting) patterns, despite having been published as part of the Vogue-Knit Series. They are scaled-down patterns, printed on squared paper within the pages of the booklet (please see photos for examples). They will need to be scaled up prior to use. Each square represents 1 square inch. Therefore they are called 'diagram patterns' . They are quite simple to do. Especially if you buy some 1 inch squared paper! You can of course make the the toys smaller or larger, just by using different size squared paper....

Vintage Visage specialise in reproducing patterns from the past to enhance your creativity. We also source vintage and antique books and booklets on textile design, wallpaper design, samplers and so much more for your delectation and inspiration.
