How to make a granny square shawl- crochet pattern

This is a very sweet and easy to make pattern for a shawl or wrap made from wonderful granny squares. This pattern uses DK yarn and has kept the colours to 5, but you can use as many colours as you wish. You can also use other types of yarn but just bear in mind that a finer yarn will make smaller squares, and a thicker yarn will give bigger squares.

You could also make the squares up to other items such as scarves (2 rows of squares as long as you wish) or throws (about twice as big as the shawl).

Have fun making this as granny squares are lovely to make and very portable to work with as you make each one individually and then sew them up at the end.
